Gruß vom Krampus

From Wikipedia: Krampus is a mythical creature recognized in Alpine countries. According to legend, Krampus accompanies Saint Nicholas during the Christmas season, warning and punishing bad children, in contrast to St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to good children. When the Krampus finds a particularly naughty child, it stuffs the child in its sack and carries the frightened child away to its lair, presumably to devour for its Christmas dinner.

I found most of these pictures on this blog which turned out to have a lot of other good posts. Merry Krampus!

  1. Hi!
Could you help me to trace back the original version of the gorgeous "KrampusCard6.jpg"?
A bit of the right part seems to be cut away.
So both tail and hoove stick to the margin.
The reason of my question is that I want to
use that picture as a book cover.
    Thank you very much!

  2. After a quick google search I found a more complete version of the image here http://krampus.com/krampus-gallery.php with tail hand and hoof complete. As to the origins, the artist on the card is most likely uncredited and it was made some time in the late 19th or early 20th century. I assume it's in the public domain.
